Mission Statement

The Mission of Salem School District, a mutually accountable partnership forged among home, school, and community, is to provide training and experience in a safe and positive environment through which students develop personal skills, academic achievement, creativity, intellectual curiosity, and independent thinking, in order to prepare for a lifetime of productivity, accomplishment, and continued learning.


Our aim is to work together in a positive environment to help each student succeed.

Lunch Supervision Help

Salem School is hiring a lunch supervisor for the 2019-2020 school year. The hours are from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The duties consist of supervising grades Kindergarten, first, second, and third during their individual lunches in the cafeteria. There is no outside recess duty. The pay is $11/hr.

Part-Time Evening Custodian

Salem Grade School is looking for a responsible person to assist with the cleaning and maintenance of our facility and grounds. The position is part-time during evenings Monday through Friday.  The position will be for 25 hours per week during the school year. The start time will be between 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM, which will be determined at the interview. The schedule will be more flexible during the summer months.

The ideal candidate will be experienced in a custodial role focused on building upkeep, will have the physical endurance to cover a large space, will have a keen eye for detail, and the ability to lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis. Any trades experience is a plus and retired trades people are encouraged to apply.

Some responsibilities of the position include:

*Cleaning floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming

*Emptying trash receptacles

*Servicing, cleaning, and supplying restrooms

*Cleaning and polishing furniture and fixtures

*Cleaning windows using cleaners, sponges, and squeegees

*Dusting furniture, walls, machines, and equipment

*Light mechanical work

*Light grounds work

*Mixing water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications

*Steam cleaning and shampooing carpets

*Stripping, sealing, finishing, and polishing floors

*Monitoring building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours, shoveling snow, and salting walkways

*Moving heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies; both manually and with hand trucks

*Notifying supervisors with the need for major repairs or safety concerns

Starting Date: Immediate

Starting Pay Range: $12 - $15 per hour based on experience
