I can't believe our school year is about to begin.  I want to welcome everyone to 4K.  It will be an exciting and surprisingly quick year for us all.  The children will experience and learn many things this year.  They will also experience many emotions as we go through the year.  Please never hesitate to contact me either via e-mail or a phone call.  I will do my best to respond as quickly as possible.

Just a few things to keep in mind as we begin the year:
We have a classroom aide our classroom.  Mrs. Lindstrom will be with us during our morning class while Mrs. Falotico will be spending the afternoons with us. I will send home weekly newsletters to help keep you up to date as to what we are learning.  The children will also have daily take home folders.  These should be looked at daily and sent back to school empty the next day.  This is a good place to put notes if you need to make contact with me.  Our school day begins at 8:30 and ends at 11:15 for the am class and begins at 12:45 and ends at 3:30 for the pm class.  The children should bring in their own healthy snack daily.

I know you may have more questions and I will have so much more info for you at our 4K Open House which is August 30th from 5-6:30. Children and parents in the morning class attend the 5:00-5:45 time slot and afternoon parents and children should attend during the 5:45-6:30 time slot.  This helps things run a bit more smoothly. You should be getting info on that in the mail soon.  I can't wait to meet you and our new 4k-ers!

The 4K classes will have snack each day. If you paid for snack milk, it will be delivered to the room for them. If you did not purchase milk, you may choose to have your child bring a juice box with them to school.

Your child may also bring a snack to school each day to eat during snack time. Some choices include:

  • String cheese

  • Crackers

  • Cut up fruit

  • Pretzels

  • Cut up vegetables

  • Granola bars

Please do not send candy or cookies as a snack. We also have a peanut allergy so please do not send peanuts or peanut butter.  Thanks!

Scholastic Book Orders

Each month I will send home book orders for Scholastic book clubs.  These books are usually offered at a savings, and are a great way to add to your home library.  In addition, all items purchased through the book orders help our class earn free books and learning materials from the book club. This year I hope to use bonus points to continue to build our class listening center with books and CDs as well as math and language manipulatives.

*Ordering Online:

Go to the link provided:  This is our very own class page for the year!! Our Scholastic Class Activation Code is: RH8VG. It’s an easy process, and you will have access to additional items as well. Oftentimes parents will find books for older or younger siblings by browsing some of the other flyers available online.

*Ordering by Check:

Check off the books you want to order for your child and return with a check.  Please make checks payable to Scholastic Book Clubs and place in an envelope marked with your

The order forms will usually come home on a Monday, and all orders are due on Friday. Thanks so much!

Falcon Feathers

Has your child been talking about Falcon Feathers? Are you wondering what they are? At Salem, we use a behavior program called PBIS - a positive behavior program that focuses on three main behaviors and how they relate throughout the school. As part of this program, children are rewarded with Falcon Feathers for demonstrating respectful, responsible and safe behaviors. When your child earns a Falcon Feather, he or she will place it in the classroom bucket. At the end of each week I will pick several names out of the bucket, and each child chosen will have the opportunity to choose a prize! The kids love it and look forward to Falcon Friday every week!
