Our curriculum is designed to address all areas of development (social, emotional, physical, and intellectual) and to meet the needs of diverse groups of learners. Children are active learners: touching, trying, moving, talking, writing, drawing, questioning. Throughout our day the children have opportunities to explore, investigate, and predict. Even though there are increasingly more academic rigors placed upon educators; I still want to advance my students in every way possible –– and I want them to have fun doing it. I believe that every child that steps across the threshold of my classroom door will become a success. I hold high expectations for each child in my classroom. I believe that if you hold high expectations for your students they will and do strive to meet them.</span></span></span></span></p><p dir="ltr"><span style="font-size: 18px;"><span style="vertical-align: inherit;"><span style="vertical-align: inherit;">&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Our class will be working on developing school skills such as listening, following directions, sharing, caring for others, using good work habits, and more. &nbsp;We will study each letter and the corresponding sound and will be doing lots of writing activities too. &nbsp;We will also learn about numbers, while building on important math concepts including sorting, counting, classifying, graphing, patterning, measuring, addition, and subtraction. The children are always proud of the work they create and are anxious to share their new skills. &nbsp;Families can help at home by listening to your child share events from their day, reading to and with your child daily, and encouraging them to write and draw.</span></span></span></p></div><p></p>

If our classroom expectations are not met, a verbal warning will be given and they will lose their “Marvelous Mickey” card.&nbsp; However, they will still remain on a green behavior card.&nbsp;</p></li><li dir="ltr" style=""><p dir="ltr">After the second consequence, students will be asked to change their card to orange and they will receive a five-minute time-out or be moved to a different location.&nbsp;</p></li><li dir="ltr" style=""><p dir="ltr">After the third consequence, students will be asked to change their card to blue.&nbsp; They will lose 10 minutes from their afternoon choice time.</p></li></ul><ul style=""><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">After the fourth consequence, students will be asked to change their card to yellow. They will receive an immediate five-minute time out to stop and think.&nbsp; The behavior will be discussed with the teacher to brainstorm more appropriate actions.&nbsp; This will also result in the loss of some of their afternoon choice time.</p></li></ul><ul style=""><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">After the fifth consequence, students will be asked to change their card to red.&nbsp; This will result in the loss of their entire choice time as well as some of the afternoon recess.&nbsp; At this point, students will help call home to notify their parents of their behavior. If the misbehavior has not improved after all of these interventions then a note, e-mail, or phone call home will follow along with an “Office Discipline Referral” (a written referral).</p></li></ul><ul style=""><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">For reoccurring behaviors, a parent/teacher conference may be held to form a behavior modification plan.</p></li></ul><p style="">At any time throughout the day, students can choose to improve their behavior and they may be allowed to move back to the previous color.
