Students in Mrs. Fuller's 6th grade math class have been working over the last few weeks on an interactive educational financial literacy program called Banzai. Students learned personal finance through workbooks and online games/activities. We would like to thank Mr. Victor Frasher from Educators Credit Union for sponsoring the workbooks and online access. Parents-be sure to ask your child about this site (they have access to it all summer) as there are some great tools for all ages!

We are thrilled to announce that Ms. Aly Schmidt has been hired as our new Assistant Principal for Middle School! Please help us congratulate her!
"I received my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Cardinal Stritch University in 2002. I started my teaching career at Salem in August of 2002 and spent my first year as a 3rd grade teacher. The following year I moved to 5th grade and have truly enjoyed the two decades spent in that grade level. In addition to teaching, I have coached basketball, volleyball, cheerleading, and softball at Salem. In 2013, I became the Salem Summer School Coordinator/Director. I was immensely proud of the program we built and grew during my time as leader.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family. My daughter, Paige, will be a Senior at Burlington High School next year. My furbaby, Turkey, rescued us a few years back and is the love of our lives! I am an avid Supercross/Motocross fan, a loyal Duke basketball fan, love the Florida beaches, and being at Disney World!
I am thankful for the chance to serve as the Assistant Principal in middle school. Salem has been my home and my family over the past 21 years and I feel honored to be able to continue this journey as a leader. I am looking forward to an exciting and bright Falcon future!"

Fourth graders have been experimenting with different types of paper airplanes. Students are designing and flying them! One of the challenges was to see which airplane could fly the longest distance!
