I am a person who genuinely loves to help others. I fell into special education because I substitute taught and loved to see students with disabilities overcome obstacles. I enjoy taking my kids to our family farm, fishing, hunting, boating and a good fire on the patio.

Hello, Salem School Community!

I’m Don Norwick, and I’m excited and honored to introduce myself as the new Principal of Salem Grade School.

I have spent the past 18 years in education, including 13 years as a classroom teacher and the last five years as an associate principal at Wilmot Union High School. Throughout my career, I have always valued building strong relationships with students, staff, families, and the community.

As I begin this new role, my first priorities are to listen, learn, support our staff, and get to know the people who make Salem such a special place. I want every student to feel safe, supported, challenged, and excited to come to school each day.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Nikki, our children, Eleanor and Donald, and our dog, Chewbacca (Chewy).

I am grateful for this opportunity and look forward to meeting all of you. I cannot wait to get started and become part of the Salem School Community!

It is with great gratitude and excitement that I write to you on my first day as Superintendent of the Salem School District. I am honored to join this outstanding community and look forward to getting to know the students, families, staff, and community members who make Salem such a special place. Over the coming weeks and months as I am spending time with staff, students, families, and community members, and continuing to learn what makes the Salem School District unique, my goal is to understand the hopes and aspirations of our community so that, together, we can build upon the excellent work already taking place.

Thank you for welcoming me into the Salem School District family. I am truly honored to serve this community and excited about all that we will accomplish together. I look forward to meeting many of you in the days and weeks ahead.
