We are very excited to announce that our recently hired new Buildings and Grounds Director, Mr. Garren Johnson, won WASBO’s 2023 Custodian/Maintenance Professional of the Year Award! Mr. Johnson was recently hired as Salem's new Building and Grounds Director, as Mr. Steve Squires will be retiring this year. MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Association of School Business Officials (WASBO) recognized Garren Johnson, Lead Custodian for the School District of Waukesha’s Les Paul Middle School, as the recipient of one of four 2023 WASBO Custodian/Maintenance Professional of the Year Awards on February 13, 2024, during the 2024 Facilities Management Conference at the Kalahari Convention Center. Johnson will soon transition to Building and Grounds Director for Salem School District. Johnson does it all, from going above and beyond to complete complex work orders, to sending out fun Friday afternoon emails to everyone in his building. Johnson is described as a breath of fresh air and someone who makes every student smile.
