Our 4th-grade Falcons had an incredible day exploring Wisconsin’s rich history at Old World Wisconsin! Students got to step back in time, explore historic farmsteads, and discover firsthand how early settlers lived and built communities across our home state.

Our 6th-grade Falcons turned into mad scientists today! Hands-on science took a festive, spooky turn as students mixed up bubbling potions, tested creative reactions, and explored the amazing world of chemistry.

Our younger Falcons got their hands sticky exploring the inside of pumpkins—scooping seeds and getting a hands-on sensory lesson in pumpkin science! 🎃🖐️ To make the day even sweeter, our older Falcon buddies joined in to help out with autumn crafts, read stories together, and share in some festive classroom treats and spooky fun. ✂️📖🍪

Miss Mueller’s 8th-grade students have been exploring the rich traditions of Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead)! To celebrate and learn about this meaningful holiday, students created special ofrendas (altars) and displays to honor and remember those who have passed away.

Our youngest Falcons got a special Halloween treat today! Mr. Sandberg spent time visiting our 4K classe to read 5 More Sleeps 'til Halloween. The students were captivated by the Halloween countdown, and Mr. Sandberg did an absolutely boo-riffic job bringing the story to life!

Our Kindergarten Falcons took center stage today, rocking vibrant neon colors and cool sunglasses to show everyone that their futures are extra bright! Their energy set the tone for our entire school as we celebrate making healthy, positive choices.
Students and staff across our whole K-8 building joined in on the neon fun, but our littlest Falcons definitely stole the show with their big style and even bigger smiles.

Thanks to the hard work of our National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) students and the sweet support of our Salem School community, our lollipop sale raised $1,144!
Today, we proudly presented the donation to The Sharing Center to help provide Thanksgiving meals for local families in need this holiday season. 🦃✨
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who bought a lollipop and supported this cause. We are so proud of our Falcons for giving back and showing what leadership and community are all about! 🦅💙

Ms. Freund’s 2nd graders stepped up to the plate this week to learn the proper technique for hitting a softball off a tee. Beyond practicing their swings, our young Falcons focused on two essential skills on and off the field: teamwork and staying safe with equipment! 🦅✨

The 8th grade is designing calaveras (skulls) for their Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) unit. Día de los Muertos is a time to celebrate loved ones who have passed and the good moments they shared in life. It's a great opportunity for them to show off their creative side!

Our 3rd graders recently took hands-on learning to the next level with their very own 3rd Grade Candy Election! As part of their social studies unit on the U.S. Constitution and how our government works, our young Falcons got a firsthand look at the election process from campaign trail to ballot box.
Here is how the voting unfolded:
📢 The Campaign: Each class selected their majority's top candy, and student delegates visited other classrooms to campaign for Sour Patch Kids, Kit Kats, Hershey's Chocolate, and Zots.
🪪 Check-In at the Polls: After creating custom voter IDs in homeroom, students presented their IDs to Mr. Sandberg and Deputy Brown to receive their official ballots.
🗳️ Casting the Ballots: Guided by Mrs. Payne and Mrs. Renner, students made their choices and placed their ballots into our official ballot box. (A special Falcon shoutout to Mr. McNeill for building the ballot box and Mrs. McNeill for decorating it!)

Ms. Longrie’s class had a fun time learning about animal traits and survival during science. They got to pretend to be birds and used different “beaks” to determine which would be most efficient for each scenario!
WINGS students learned parts of the pumpkin in a unique way, a no “goo” approach! Yarn and pumpkin seeds filled a styrofoam pumpkin with an extra-special treat.
