As we approach the April 1st election tomorrow, we want to emphasize just how important it is to get out and vote. Your voice matters. Why Vote? Salem School has had the lowest revenue limit per student among area K-8 districts since 1993.​ 96% of Wisconsin school districts receive more funding per student than Salem.​ The 2022 referendum, which included both capital and operational funding, is set to expire—this renewal is only for operational funds to maintain financial stability.​ Voting Details: Date: Tuesday, April 1​ Time: Polls are open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM​ Find Your Polling Place: myvote.wi.gov Our school is seeking support through a referendum to address critical operational costs. While we’ve worked hard to implement cost-saving measures, such as reducing administrative positions, freezing salaries for certain roles, and exploring partnerships with neighboring districts, these efforts alone are not enough. Here’s a key fact: State funding has not kept pace with rising operational costs, including utilities, staffing, and educational resources. Without additional funding, we face difficult decisions that could impact student programs, staffing, busing, and services. Student Senate members got to hear from Navy veteran Mr. Steve Tindall. He served in the Navy for 9 years and maintained and operated the various components which aimed and fired the onboard guns. Mr. Tindall is an ambassador for the Milwaukee Stars and Stripes Honor Flight. Over 10,000 veterans have flown out of Milwaukee thanks to donations. Student Senate ran a lollipop sale earlier this year and was able to donate $1,625 to this amazing organization!

6th graders are taking an interactive approach to learning about the Han Dynasty this week. Throughout, they’ll work through 7 stations learning about the warfare, government, science, agriculture, industry, art, and medicine of the dynasty.
