Señora Antaramian's students have been reviewing what they learned last year in Spanish class, with the help of a new addition, the Spanish Champion chair! Students get to sit in a special seat and are only able to speak Spanish during class! They are doing a great job!
Salem 6th graders started the week learning about Growth Mindset. They also learned that MATH stands for Mistakes Allow Thinking To Happen. Mrs. Fuller gave all of her 6th grade math students an eraser to remind them that mistakes mean learning is happening!
Fifth graders are working hard in their Earth and Sun Science Unit. Yesterday, Mrs. Zuehlsdorf, Mrs. Cummings, and Ms. McGrath's fifth graders took the science classroom outside! The goal was to investigate, "How and why does our shadow change during the day?"

Mrs. Rynberg’s first grade class made a craft and had a patriotic popsicle in honor of Patriot Day, September 11th.❤️
On Friday, 4th graders were given several different bins of books with a variety of genres to “taste” with a real snack of popcorn!. They were encouraged to keep an open mind and “taste” new books. Many found their "just right" book and have created a reading list!

We are very excited to announce that Club Sign-Ups are now open! If your child is interested in any of the available clubs for their grade level, please submit the form below as this is the only way to sign up for clubs. You will be contacted by the club leader once the rosters have been set. Please note that you need to sign up for each child on a separate form. All clubs have a $20 fee, and the cooking club has an additional $15 fee. Students who qualify for free/reduced lunch will not have to pay the club fee.
Please note the deadline to sign-up for all clubs is Friday, September 22, 2023, at 10:00 am.

As part of our ongoing Strategic Plan work to promote a culture of service and civic responsibility, we are very excited to offer many upcoming opportunities for our Salem students this year to engage with the community and participate in service projects and activities!
Our first opportunity for this year is just around the corner! We are excited to partner with Sleep In Heavenly Peace in Kenosha on September 9th, 2023. Their Mission is NO KID SLEEPS ON THE FLOOR IN OUR TOWN!® On the 9th from 1-4pm, Salem families are invited to stop by and watch a workshop in action to learn more about what this non-profit organization is about!
Then, on October 14th, from 1-3pm, all Salem families with students 3rd grade and up are invited to join a workshop to help build beds for children in need! If you are interested in participating on October 14th, watch for a sign up,. coming soon!

A time honored Salem tradition is Falcon Friday! On Fridays our students and staff sport Salem gear or blue and white to show their Salem Spirit💙 We would like all of our students to wear their new shirts this Friday, September 8th for our first Falcon Friday of the new school year.
Each student was given a new Falcon shirt at open house night. If your student didn't attend open house night, their homeroom teacher has their shirt waiting at school for them!
