4K students in Mrs. Trescott and Mrs. Borkowski's classroom "shopped" through newspapers and magazines to find food to put in their refrigerators! They searched for food photos, cut them out and then glued them "into" their fridge. Their goal was to find foods that would make them healthy and strong!

Please help us congratulate Mrs. Judy Mroczkowski on her retirement at the end of this school year! She has been in education for 22 years in the school system, but developed curriculum for several publishers 16 years prior to that. She has been with us at Salem for 3 years, and will miss the children and the families most when she retires! Her family purchased a lake home to enjoy during retirement and she's looking very forward to coffee on the dock, morning pontoon cruises, and watching the sunset from her porch swing! She looks forward to waking up each day and not having a plan! Judy currently has 2 grandchildren and she looks forward to many, many more. She says, " I would like to thank and recognize my team - some of the best professionals I've had the pleasure of working with. They have gone above and beyond for many of our families during the pandemic and I cannot think of going through those difficult times with anyone else." Sue has been working at Salem School for about 27 years, and prior to that worked in the lunch program in Germantown School District. When her children were little she began by volunteering here at Salem, and then eventually subbed in the library before she was offered a job. During retirement she is looking very forward to spending more time with her family (7 grandchildren, her 3 children, and her mom and siblings) and enjoying the birds and nature, reading, and trying new recipes! Please help us congratulate Mrs. Ann Hughes on her retirement at the end of this school year! Ann has been a licensed teacher since 2011, and has been teaching at Salem full time since 2015. She is going to greatly miss the Salem staff and being part of the "light-bulb" moments that her students experience! When she retires she is looking most forward to having the flexibility to spend time with her whole family! She would like to thank Salem School (administration, staff, parents, and students) for the many opportunities she has had here. It is all of these special opportunities that she was given that led to her becoming a teacher in the first place. Ms. Holm's first graders have been working on a plant unit in reading this month. Last Thursday they planted their bean and marigold seeds! They also read about plants that produce fruits and taste tested some of them! YUM!

Salem sixth graders created gift bags for children who are hospitalized as part of their community service work. The bags included a few small toys and handwritten notes for well wishes. The gift bags were distributed to local hospitals. ❤

Mrs. McGrath's fourth grade class participated in a fun activity during a break from Forward Testing last week! They worked in teams to see who could build the tallest tower!
