Student Senate members got to hear from Navy veteran Mr. Steve Tindall. He served in the Navy for 9 years and maintained and operated the various components which aimed and fired the onboard guns. Mr. Tindall is an ambassador for the Milwaukee Stars and Stripes Honor Flight. Over 10,000 veterans have flown out of Milwaukee thanks to donations. Student Senate ran a lollipop sale earlier this year and was able to donate $1,625 to this amazing organization!

On Tuesday, April 1, our community will vote on a proposed operational referendum for the Salem School District. This would allow us to maintain programs and class size ranges, while ensuring the financial sustainability of our district over the next several years. There would be no projected levy rate increase as a result of an approved vote. 🏫Our next Conversation in the Community will take place Monday, March 17, at Salem School. Join us from 4:00 to 5:00pm to hear from district leaders and have your questions answered. 🗓️ Find more information and answers to FAQs: www.salem.k12.wi.us/page/salemreferendum2025

While we’re proud of our successes, the Salem School District is facing the challenges of rising costs, an inequitable state school funding formula, and a lack of state aid to public schools in recent years. We share these challenges with most other school districts statewide. Check out this video to learn more about our operational needs and the proposed solution on the ballot April 1. 📽️ www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3gtf3UZlbs&t=2s
